Contest Details

  • Theme: "America at 250: What does it mean to you to be an American?”
  • Who Can Enter: Open to Ho-Ho-Kus residents of all ages.
  • Format: Designs must fit inside our official 3" x 5" oval template.
  • Medium: Hand-drawn original artwork only (no digital art or computer graphics). No glitter or loose materials. Content must be respectful and appropriate for all ages.
  • Submission Deadline: Tuesday, September 8 at 7:00pm

Voting & Prizes

  • Public Voting: Cast your ballot in person at Ho-Ho-Kus Day on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Library Booth.
  • Voting Rules: In-person voting only. One vote per resident.
  • Grand Prize: The winning entry will be professionally made into magnets, which will be free for Ho-Ho-Kus community members to pick up at both Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library and Borough Hall!

Design Guidelines

  • Use markers, colored pencils, or paint to ensure bright, bold lines.
  • Keep text minimal and easy to read when scaled to magnet size.
  • Stay entirely inside the oval border on the template sheet.

How to Submit

  • Pick up the official oval template sheet at the library or Borough Hall. If printing at home, make sure to scale the print to 100% to ensure the template is the correct size.​
  • Drop off your finished hand-drawn design at Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library or Borough Hall before the 7:00 PM deadline on September 8. Submissions may also be scanned and emailed to the library at [email protected]. Photos of artwork will not be accepted.
  • Include your name, age, and phone number on the entry form.
