Board Games

Available for 2 week loan
for kids (5+)
These basic games are a great introduction to classic board game mechanics, logic, chance and strategy.

Picture
My First Carcassonne
Lay down tiles, making sure to align roads. Place your townspeople on tiles that accept pieces of your player color. The first one to place all their people into the town wins!

Picture
Outfoxed
Players work together to gather clues and determine which fox swiped Mrs. Plumpert's pot pie. Can you figure out the mystery before the naughty fox escapes?

Picture
Rat-a-Tat Cat
Play out your high cards (rats) and keep your low cards (cats) to get the lowest score by the end of the game.

Picture
Rat-a-Tat Roll
Roll dice to move around the board and collect low-scoring cat cards. Watch out for high-scoring rats! Do you take the face up card, or push your luck drawing from the deck? Lowest score wins!

Picture
Rhino Hero
Test your fine motor skills as you stack cards to form a building, helping Rhino catch the burglars and ruffians higher up. But be careful, Rhino's weight can bring the whole structure down!

Picture
Sorry! Giant Edition
It's Sorry, but it's huge, and you use a spinner instead of drawing cards to figure out your movement. Knock opponents' pieces off the board and be the first to move all of your own pieces to home base.

Picture
Sum Swamp
Roll dice to make a simple addition or subtraction equation, and move that many spaces. A stripped-down game designed to teach basic math skills to young learners.

Picture
Ticket to Ride First Journey
Use train cards to build train routes on the map. Connect the cities on your route cards to construct the most successful train empire!
For Families (6+ With help)
Games in this category are a little more advanced, with more pieces and rules. They may need some adult supervision for the first play through, but can probably be handled by elementary aged kids once they know how to play.

Picture
boop.
A simple but surprisingly challenging 2 player game, boop. asks players to place kittens on a bed. "Boop" other kittens by placing your piece next to them, causing them to move away. Line up three kittens in a row to get a big cat, who can't be easily booped! Line up three cats in a row (or get all of your cats on the bed) to win the game.

Picture
Camel Up
On your mark, get set, camel! Place your bets on a camel race; bet sooner to win more, but it can get wacky when the camels end up carrying each other around the race track. After a few rounds one camel (or more) will cross the finish line - winnings are calculated and a victorious player will emerge.

Picture
Cat Crimes
Sift through clues to figure out which cat committed one of forty mischievous crimes!

Picture
In a Pickle
A simple but potentially raucous game of discussing whether or not one thing can fit inside another thing. Come prepared to make your best argument about why a sink fits inside a shoe.

Picture
Karak
Delve into a dungeon full of skeletons, rats and a big, fierce dragon! Keep your character alive while collecting treasure and fantasy weapons to defeat progressively more challenging enemies. The dungeon gets built from tiles every time you play, so every game is different.

Picture
King of Tokyo
Each player takes the role of a giant monster intent on conquering Tokyo. Battle your opponents by rolling dice to attack, score points, purchase special powers, and heal yourself. Knock out the other monsters or gather the most points to become the king of the city.

Picture
Kingdomino
This award-winning game challenges players to build out their kingdom in the most efficient way by drafting and placing domino-shaped tiles. Score points by matching landscape patterns, and play defense by scooping up the tiles that your opponents need.

Picture
Patchwork Express
Another pattern-matching game, players select fabric components and buttons, and compete to construct the best quilt before running out of time.

Picture
Sleeping Queens
This card game was invented by a kid after a night of weird dreams, and has become a popular classic! Use your King cards to wake up your Queens, use your Knights to fight Dragons, and use Sleeping Potion cards to put your opponents' Queens back to bed.

Picture
Sushi Go!
Select a sushi card from your hand and pass the cards to your neighbor. Use the cards you collect to construct the most well-rounded, delicious (and cute) sushi meal possible.

Picture
Unlock! Kids: Detective Stories
A collection of accessible logic puzzles based on the concept of escape rooms, Unlock! Kids comes with three fun settings (Scottish castle, barnyard, and amusement park) full of mysteries to solve. Work together to crack the case!
for adults (12+)
These games have more rules overhead and/or components, and require a bit more thought to play successfully. However, older kids who like games should have no problem following along.

Picture
Abandon All Artichokes
Do everything you can to get pesky artichoke cards out of your hand. Compost cards to get rid of them, harvest new ones from the garden row, and follow the instructions on the cards you play to optimize your deck. First player to abandon all artichokes wins.

Picture
Century Spice Road
Build out your network of traders and barter cinnamon, turmeric, saffron and cardamom to become the wealthiest spice merchant in the land.

Picture
Codenames
A fantastic group word game, Codenames puts players onto two teams. Each team has a clue giver and everyone else interprets the clues. They must identify correct word cards on the table via a series of one-word clues. Be careful not to guess the wrong cards, as you can help your opponents or hit the traitor and instantly lose the game!

Picture
Kitchen Rush
Work with other players to run your restaurant through 8 scenarios of progressing complexity and difficulty. Essentially the board game version of the video game Overcooked, this fast-paced team challenge will have you slinging ingredients and plates in order to meet customer orders.

Picture
Noobs in Space
This is a cooperative game where players take the role of hapless astronauts trying to accomplish a series of progressively more difficult tasks in the shortest amount of time. Each player holds certain pieces of the puzzle but can't show them to others; communication is key!

Picture
The Resistance
A social deduction game where players are assigned to teams of freedom fighters or government spies. Players who are part of the Resistance try to assemble a mission team that doesn't include enemy spies. Spies try to get themselves placed onto mission teams in order to sabotage progress. If the Resistance team can conduct three missions successfully, they win.

Picture
Sagrada
Players use colored dice to represent panels in beautiful stained glass works. As an artisan attempting to get your work placed in the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, you must construct the best window. Scoring criteria vary dramatically from game to game so you'll have to adjust your strategy with every play.

Picture
Sky Team
Pair up with your favorite co-pilot and attempt to land your plane in a variety of locations and weather conditions. This challenging, cooperative puzzle game has two players working together to manage speed, altitude, tilt, and other factors to achieve a safe landing.

Picture
The classic beanbag toss game. Includes 2 boards and 8 beanbags (4 of each color).

Picture
In Ladderball, players toss bolos (balls connected by a rope) at a scaffold to score points.

Picture
A hybrid of pickleball and spikeball, Paddlesmash is a new game that asks players to bounce a pickleball off a trampoline. Don't let the ball hit the ground; deliver an unhittable smash to win!
